New Equipment

Some of my regular readers will wonder why I haven’t been blogging…

The first reason is that my sister and her family have been visiting.  Guests always (pleasantly!) distract me from my regular activities.

The second is that my computer hard drive collapsed.

Those of you who know me personally will know that I avoid spending money on unnecessary things; hence the ‘minimal’ in the title of my blog.

In the last 16 years I have purchased only 2 computers, which my friends tell me is quite an achievement.  I refuse to have my spending driven by ever-improving technology.

It has to be said, though, that this approach to the cyber world has caused some trauma to me and considerable trauma to my ‘help desk’ (otherwise known as Stu and Dad).

Even when my hard drive died a few weeks ago, I lived in hope that the man in the local computer shop could fix it.

Alas, he couldn’t.  He plugged my PC in, pressed the start button and drew our attention to a ‘clack’ (which we have since translated as a ‘clunk’).

A ‘clunk’ is never good.

After a few long and awkward minutes, I decided it was probably time for a new PC.

I flicked the pages of the shop’s catalogue and quickly pointed to the cheapest PC I could find.

So I am online again…well, not fully…I have to organise some things and download other things…it’s never easy getting a new computer… but I am back in the blogging world!

Good to have you back. Our computer went out 2 years ago and we have been living with iPads. Every so often I look at new laptops but can never figure out why I really need one. And then Sandy sighs and says I do not need more toys. Figure that will make you very happy.
